I (बॖ) will not sing (ग्यवॖ) that song (सु नगमॖ) today (अज़)

and Bulbuls (बुलबुल)
and Hyacinths (सुमबल)

and sleepy (नेंदरिहॊत) songs

English Translation
I will not sing (ग्यवॖ) today (अज़)
I will not sing those songs (सु नगमॖ कांह) today
Because (तिक्याज़ि) today (अज़)
The war-monger (जंगॖबाज़), trickster (जालसाज़) is prepared ( हॊल गँडिथ - waist tightened)
Watching to pounce (ज़ाग ह्यथ) on my Kashmir (कॅशीरि म्यानि)
And the hyacinths (सुमबल) from the far side (अपार्य) to the near side (यपोर)
And the door chains (हाँकॖल) are clanking (गछ़ान छ्वन्य)
And the lightning (वॖज़मल) has its eyes (ॲछन) covered with haze (ज़ाल) as if (ज़न)
And the mountains (कॊह तॖ बाल) are hiding (खॅटिथ) as if (ज़न)
And the black cloud (कालॖ ऒबुर) engulfs (वॅलिथ छु नाल) the mountains (संगर) as if (ज़न)

I will not sing (ग्यवॖ) today (अज़)
I will not sing those songs (सु नगमॖ कांह) today

Because (तिक्याज़ि) today (अज़)
Evil eyes (ब्यॅवायॖ) everywhere (जायि जायि) in the hot sun (तापॖ क्रायि) are watching (ज़ाग ह्यथ)
They are circling (आयि ग्रायि), waiting to steal (युथ च़लन) my garden (home) (म्योन बाग)
That's why the flowers (गुल) are fearful (शाह अँदॖर्य गॊमुत - holding their breath)
And the tulips (लालॖ) are stained (दाग ह्यथ)
The sweet sound (गॗंगॖरायि) of streams (ज्वयन) is guarded (पॅहरॖ) as if (ज़न)
The Cuckoo's (कुकिल) song (वाह) is muted (स्वतेयि)
And the jungle Mynah (वनॖचि हॉरि) is distraught with fear and sorrow (ब्यूठ ॲहरॖ) as if (ज़न)

The spring (बहार) is being chased (छि लार) by the autumn (हर्द) winds (वावॖची)
The rogue (आवारॖ), fresh embers (ताज़ॖ शोलॖ) are burning in the forest (वनन अंदर)
Humanity is turning on itself
(सखर छि आदॖमस आदॖमॖसॖंदे शिकारॖची - Man is preparing to prey on another man)
The Narcissus (यँबॖरज़ल) is not beautiful anymore
Its head has its hair (टॅपिस) tangled (ज़ठ्ठ गॉमॖच़)
The air (हवा) is tired (छ़ॆनिथ प्योमुत)
And the helpless (बिचॉर) Jasmine (ही पोश) has parted (छ़्यनॖ गॅमॖच़) from its sprig (थरि)

are blessed (लसन) and settle (बसन) again
And our desires (मुराद म्यॉन्य) are fulfilled (रथि खसन)
And my dear(टोठ म्योन), darling (नुंदॖबोन) home (बाग सोन)
I can see again (बॖ बॆयि वुछन) in its old glory (पनुन पनुन वतन)
तवय बॖ नेरॖ, अज़ बॖ फेरॖ, वथ बॖ शेरॖ
बॅठ्य तॖ बेरॖ सॅम्य करख
बॖ नेरॖ अज़ बॖ नेरॖ अज़
बॖ फेरॖ जायि जायि शायि शायि पनॖनि आयि

today I will roam (अज़ बॖ फेरॖ),
tread the path (वथ बॖ शेरॖ)
Even out (सॅम्य करख) the hedges (बेरॖ) with the river banks (बॅठ्य)

I will roam everywhere (बॖ फेरॖ जायि जायि), to places of refuge (शायि शायि),
but, rest assured, on my own whims (पनॖनि आयि)
